Kanungo Institute of Diabetes Hospital

Orthopedic

In the Division of Orthopedic Surgery, our main goal is to optimize outcomes by conservative, and if ultimately necessary, surgical treatment options. Our division is unique for adopting options which significantly reduce rehabilitation time postoperatively and require very brief hospital stays.
We treat various sports related injuries of the upper and lower extremities. Arthroscopic rotator cuff and ACL repair are just a few of our many sports related procedures. We offer the latest techniques for fracture care for both adults and children. Minimal invasive fracture care is offered by use of flexible nails and less invasive stabilization systems such as locking plates. The Dept. offers the followings:

• Treatment of complex fractures using both internal fixation and external fixation techniques.
• Specialized surgery of bone cancer in collaboration with oncologists (cancer specialists).
• Hand surgery and upper limb surgery where in tender repairs, micro vascular surgery, surgery for brachial plexus injuries, bone injuries, reattachment of amputated parts is done.
• Spine surgery and treatment of spine tumors, spine infections, and correction of spine deformities is available, including treatment of spine fractures.
• Treatment for children's orthopedic problems such as club foot, knock knees, bowing of knees, curvature of spine.

Pain Management:
The division of interventional pain management specializes primarily in treatment of painful disorders of spine, musculoskeletal system, and the nervous system. Our goal is to improve the quality of life through utilizing safe, effective, and advanced treatment modalities for long-term alleviation of pain and suffering.

Diagnostic Services
We offer diagnostic tools, which aid in the proper diagnosis and treatment of our patients’ conditions. EMG and nerve conduction studies assist the clinician in determining nerve damage in spine or diagnosing conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome. Imaging studies such as X-ray, MRI, ultrasound, and bone density testing are used in the Center to assist the clinicians in accurate diagnosis of musculoskeletal conditions.

Physiotherapy:
We are a progressive rehabilitation center and our ultimate objective for our patients is to enhance and speed their gains towards functional independence. The physicians work together with our staff in developing and providing the most beneficial treatment program for the specific needs of each patient. Our musculoskeletal rehabilitation programs advance functional restoration utilizing state of the art, computerized medical exercise equipment.
Our goal is to enhance the quality of life for our patients by increasing their strength, decreasing their pain and discomfort, and increasing their functional abilities with activities of daily living and with participation in sport and recreational activities.
