Diabetes Club

It is a serious finding of the study made by Cuttack Diabetes Research Foundation (CDRF) that the growing prevalence of the Diabetes is in the rural sector among lower middle class families. Diabetes if not managed properly, can cause serious problems such as kidney failure, lower limb amputation, blindness, heart disease, strokes and nerve damages. Proper monitoring and real time data is the key to manage to prevent the epidemic and manage life altering complications that could be the cause of serious economic burdens.

During last one year 9557 new diabetics have been detected at the camps organized at the rural areas of Nayagarh, Keonjhor, Kendrapara, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack and Mayurbhanj districts by Kanungo Institute of Diabetes Specialities (K.I.D.S). This was a matter of concern and being the largest multi-speciality diabetes hospital in India, K.I.D.S has launched an innovative Patient Education Programme (PEP) through promotion of “K.I.D.S Diabetes Club” in Odisha. The first “K.I.D.S Diabetes club” was promoted at Rairangpur with the objective to promote & empower general public, diabetes people & pressure groups for facilitating community based interactions, sharing of innovative IEC materials to assure proper medication, prevent diabetes and adopt healthy lifestyle.
